Stardust survivor appeals to Europe for justice

A survivor of the 1981 Stardust fire that claimed forty eight lives is appealing to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg to get the Irish government to launch a new inquest into the tragedy.

Antoinette Keegan lost her two sisters when they were caught up in the fire that tore through the Dublin nightclub thirty eight years ago. She managed to get out of the burning building but her two sisters never made it to safety.

Ms Keegan says previous inquiries into the circumstances of the fire were botched and ineffective. And now she’s part of a group called Justice for the forty eight who visited Strasbourg today to talk to the Council of Europe’s Human Right’s Commissioner.
