The recent terrorist attacks in Brussels and ways to fight terrorism in Europe will be debated by MEPs in the European Parliament today. Last night MEPs stood for a minute’s silence for the 32 people killed and 340 injured in the attacks, during the opening session of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg. The Parliament’s President Martin Schulz condemned the attacks as a cruel, inhuman and cynical attempt to infect Europeans with fear and hatred. The Sinn Fein MEP Liadh Ni Riada says countering terrorism is a huge challenge in Europe.
