Morning Report 27 Jan 22: ASX to start lower as investors grapple with rising interest rates

US sharemarkets were volatile on Wednesday as investors reacted to the Federal Reserve decision. In response to earnings updates, shares in Microsoft rose by 2.9% with shares in Texas Instruments up 2.5%. At the close, the Dow Jones index was down by 130 points or 0.4% after being up 518 points in early trade and down 421 points after the Fed decision. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.2%. But the Nasdaq index rose by 2.8 points or less than 0.1%
