Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Kay Kirkland, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Enterprise, to talk about one of Downtown Enterprise's most anticipated events—the 3rd Annual “Chef Showdown, taking place on May 17th from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to kick off their Farmer's Market season. Several local chefs will be facing off to win the judges' awards as well as the People’s Choice Award, cooking with ingredients sourced directly from the Farmer's Market. Opening ceremonies for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. The chefs will be released to begin gathering their ingredients at 9:00 a.m. and will have until 11:00 a.m. to finish preparing their dishes. Judging and voting will begin immediately after, and winners will be announced at 11:30 a.m. While this is an annual event, the Farmer’s Market is open year-round on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, offering a variety of fresh and local goods—from fruits and vegetables to baked goods. Crafters also have booths showcasing handmade items.
