What is an Empath (Compared to a Codependent)

Some people have it wrong when they talk about an empath and a super empath.  They are talking about toxic empathy or the dark side of empathy and they are also talking about empathy as a super power.  Being an empath doesn't mean you are a toxic empath, a super empath or a codependent.  It simply means you are a highly sensitive personality to has high levels of empathy and/or insight into the feelings and emotions of others. 

You can be an empath and be codependent, and you can also be such an emotional sponge for the toxic emotions of others that you do yourself damage.  So it is important to have an understanding of empathy and how it shows up in your life.
