Merkel a “chief architect” of austerity – Carthy

The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy says people won’t be too upset to see the German Chancellor Angela Merkel depart from politics in 2021.

The Midlands North-West MEP was making his comments following Chancellor Merkel’s address on the future of Europe to the European Parliament last Tuesday.

Mrs Merkel recently announced she would be stepping down as Chancellor of Germany in 2021.  

Matt Carthy says she won’t be missed.
