Matthew 20-21
I don’t know about you, but I have a really hard time with people who keep rejecting truth. Every time I turn around there is another lie being put out there for other people to believe. I heard a podcast from a supposedly Christian pastor, who was preaching against the divinity of Jesus and declaring our equality with him as a child of God.
The truth is, they just don’t realize that to say we have equality with Jesus is the same as saying we have equality with God. People who say things like this are heretics. They aren’t recognizing Jesus as the true son of God.
Now the hardest part of this is to identify whom Jesus was talking to in this story? He wasn’t talking to some nobody on the side of the road. He wasn’t talking to the person who professed to be in opposition of the one true God.
He was talking to the teachers of the religious law. These were like pastors in that day.
Here is the scary thing, there are hundreds upon hundreds of people with podcasts, YouTube channels, ministries, and other outlets, who would proclaim that they are teachers of God’s word, or leaders of the religious community. Yet what they preach, defies the Bible, or minimizes Jesus.
Here is something important to remember, Jesus says two things that we should take seriously.
First, we read in the book of John that he said, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.”
He also said, that not one single word of the scriptures will fade away. He didn’t come to abolish the law. He came to fulfill it.
In other words, Jesus is vital to our faith! He is the only way to salvation. And, he didn’t come so that we could ignore the law, he came so that it all makes sense.
If you are listening to voices that are willing to say scripture doesn’t matter, or are willing to take the words of the Bible and twist their meaning so that it fits their agenda, shut them off!!!! And if you don’t know if what they are saying is true, listen to the Holy Spirit who is trying to protect you! Find someone to help you navigate what they are saying. Test Everything! Find out what pleases the Lord. And guard your heart against the teachings of deception.
Just so you know, this is why it is vital for us to stay in a community of believers. Go to church! Find a small group. Look for a mentor! But don’t try to navigate all the deceitful untruths that are out there on you your own! And as always, if you have a way of getting ahold of me, I always love sitting down and helping people understand what scripture says, and more importantly - WHY it says it. Message me, call me, hunt me down. Let’s talk! Because the one true God came in the flesh, and paid the price for our sins, that we would be able to go through him, to the father. And that, is the best message ever heard!
