Poem 45
The morning breaks me open.
I’ve been waiting all night long
to walk barefoot by the lake,
dew on silver-painted toenails
dragging through the seagrass
where bullfrogs begged at dusk.
This place is holy all the time,
but I feel it most in morning,
at moonset when the Feminine
has just recharged the sky,
her silver fully spent
before the revelry of dawn.
I think the sun is Glory,
the moon Grace.
Fastened together with knots
of irrevocable vows,
sealed by unexpected Mercy
