Market Close 25 Mar 20: ASX 200 rises for a second successive session

The ASX 200 rose 262 points or 5.5% to finish at 4998. The gains were looking to be far less substantial with only a matter of minutes to trade, the index soared 150 points at the close as news filtered through that US lawmakers agreed on a US$2 trillion stimulus package. On the open, the benchmark index jumped 8% or 289 points in response to the biggest single day improvement on Wall Street since 1933 as the Dow Jones surged more than 11%.
