The Holy Spirit, Our Advocate

A homily for the Sixth Sunday of Easter, by Father Darrin Connall: Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as a new “Advocate,” which is biblical legal language. The role of the Holy Spirit can be likened to the role of a guardian ad litem in our contemporary legal system, whose task is to defend the best interests of vulnerable individuals who cannot speak for themselves.
