US sharemarkets rose on Friday. Economic data beat forecasts. All ten S&P 500 sectors rose, led by utilities and telecoms. But shares in industrial stocks, General Electric and Honeywell, fell, holding back overall market gains. The Dow Jones index ended higher by almost 54 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.5% to record highs while the Nasdaq lifted by 26 points or 0.5%. Over the week the Dow Jones rose by 0.3%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.6% and the Nasdaq rose by 1.4%.
