In today’s show, Chris interviews Mo Fathelbab, first Executive Director, Young Entrepreneur’s Organization, President, Forum Resources Network, and Co-Founder, HBS Alumni Forums.

This show starts with Mo recalling how his association with Young Entrepreneur’s Organization started back in 1989. Mo’s path crossed with Verne Harnish, the founder of EO (formerly YEO) when he was a student at the University of Maryland. Impressed with Verne’s vision, Mo signed up on the dotted line. 

This kickstarted a long and fruitful journey for Mo where he got the opportunity to meet some incredible people and visit some incredible places.  

This first segment of the show is particularly interesting as you will get to learn how, over time, EO has managed to grow into a giant organization with a presence in over 40 countries.

In 1991, Mo shares how he caught on to the idea of holding forums or masterminds – which was a completely alien concept then. Mo shares how he managed to tremendously scale up this segment of YEO’s business.

Mo was so successful at doing so that in 1997, he decided to quit YEO to start Forum Resources Network.

Was it difficult for Mo to quite a stable, high-paying job to start his venture? Was it smooth sailing from the get-go? Apparently no. Mo had to face many hiccups in the first year of his operations. From mounting debt to staying in his parent’s basement, Mo reveals how he managed to overcome some of his biggest challenges.
