AM Report 18 Aug 17:Barcelona attack and US political agenda concerns hit stocks

US sharemarkets fell sharply on Thursday. Investors reacted to news of a Barcelona terror attack that killed at least 13 people and injured more than 80. Investors were also worried by political instability in Washington in the aftermath of the closure of the President's business councils. Disappointment on earnings from Walmart also weighed on sentiment. The Dow Jones fell by 274 points or 1.1%. The S&P 500 fell by 1.5% while the Nasdaq lost 123 points or 1.9%.
