Episode #168: Erin Smith - Spotlight Strategies

Erin Smith, is co-owner of Spotlight Strategies, a premier promotional products marketing company specializing in print, apparel, promotional product and signs in central Indiana. With revenue exceeding $2.3 million, Spotlight ranks in the top 1% of women-owned businesses in the USA.

Erin's strong commitment to Hoosier values and business would lead you to believe she is a native of Indiana. Her impact and influence has been remarkable in the 23 years she has called central Indiana her home.

An accomplished health care administrator turned business owner, Erin brings rare behavioral expertise to the world of small business. With a Master’s degree in social work, and a thriving business she is a sought after advisor, coach and mentor to many of Indiana’s small business owners and support associations. Erin demonstrates unwavering commitment and facilitates profitability to any organization to which she directs her time and talent, and is successful in motivating and empowering people whether supporting a cause or building a company.

Erin’s passion invigorates those who join her and encourages them to believe they can achieve impressive goals. Individuals are eager to serve with Smith because they know she will not waste their time or energy in unproductive pursuits. Her leadership has been recognized through several awards including: NAWBO Indianapolis Member of the Year, Indy’s Best & Brightest, the Ernie G. Mishler Award for community service, Greenwood Chamber Salute Award and Sertoma Service to Mankind Award. Her leadership was also instrumental in creating an annual scholarship for women in business, through the Women’s Leadership Fund.

Outside of Spotlight Strategies, she and her business partner, Susan McCarty own a real estate holdings company as well as a non-profit, Pay it Forward Johnson County which hosts Rock the Block Run with a 5K and 10K walk/run and Kid’s Run every April which raises money for local non-profits serving children and families in Johnson County. 2025 will mark the 10th year for the race with over $250 million dollars given back.

Currently, Erin serves as the President of the Indianapolis Rotary Foundation and is a proud Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow of over 15 years. She serves on the University Of Indianapolis School Of Business Advisory Board and the Central Indiana Police Foundation (past Board Chair). Erin finds enjoyment working out and exploring new adventures from discovering new restaurants to traveling abroad. Erin also volunteer teaches boot-camp classes at the Community Life Center, a part of Mount Pleasant Christian Church, where she is a member. She is also very proud of her adult sons who have earned careers as a pilot and an electrician.
