Police in Strasbourg are still hunting a gunman who shot dead at least two people and injured twelve last night.
The suspect is reported to have been injured after he opened fire as people were strolling through Strasbourg’s old quarter enjoying the city’s famous Christmas market.
The attack happened as the European Parliament’s plenary session was taking place further away from the city centre. The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness stayed all night in the Parliament as did other MEPs and staff who were uncertain about the security situation outside.
