Ronald Reagan was convinced that US defenses had been allowed to deteriorate during the 1970s and that this condition had left the United States vulnerable. President Reagan sought a substantial increase in US defense spending, hoping to restore some programs canceled by Carter, such as the neutron bomb (the enhanced radiation weapon), and the B-1 bomber. So we’ll start this podcast with his speech from March 6th.
