US Close 21 Dec 18: Stocks hit 15-month lows

The US sharemarket has continued to slide in the absence of positive catalysts. The S&P 500 hit a 15-month low and is on track to have its worst December in decades. A partial US government shutdown remains a risk, the US-China trade dispute is ongoing and the Fed flagged two rate hikes in 2019.
