US Close 10 Mar 17: late recovery but oil still below US$50 a barrel

US sharemarkets recovered from lows in afternoon trade as traders positioned ahead of Friday's job report. Gains in the energy and financials sectors were balanced with losses in materials and real estate. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was up by 2.5 points or less than 0.1% after trading in a 123 point range. The S&P 500 index was up by 0.1% while the Nasdaq was up by 1.3 points or less than 0.1%.
