Falling in love with and marrying a prince has been written about and fantasized about by women for centuries. So when American socialite Wallis Simpson meets the Prince of Wales in 1931, a fairy tale story begins to take shape… sort of. That’s because when the prince is unexpectedly thrust onto the throne and becomes King of England, things begin to get complicated. The romance between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson (aka W.E) will not only test the resolve of their relationship like few others in history but has the potential to upend the British monarchy, its government and cause the collapse of the entire British Empire.
