Opening Bible verse: Luke 9:62
When I was in 4th grade I started running track. My dad could often be heard yelling, "Don't Look Back!" as I rounded the final turn. I was always looking back to see where my competition was instead of facing forward and running my own race. I lost precious time looking back, therefore, winning my heat, but not the event.
In the opening Bible verse, Jesus talks about just how serious a commitment it is to follow Him. If you look back, you are not fit for the kingdom of God.
What in your life is causing you to look back or look around at what others are doing?
When you feel the yucky feelings that come with comparison, remember these things:
1. God loves all of us equally and with a love beyond our human understanding.
2. He has a plan for each of us.
3. We all have a cross to bear.
Our crosses may be heavier or lighter than others but it is perfectly weighted for us. It's just heavy enough to build our muscles so we have the strength to carry out our mission on Earth yet light enough that we can cross the finish line.
