AM Report 14 Apr 18: Stronger session focused on earnings.

US sharemarkets rose on Monday as investors focused their attention on earnings results. Concerns over Syrian tensions appeared to ease. Bank of America shares rose by 0.4% after reporting a better-than-expected quarterly profit. Merck shares rose 2.6% after presenting positive trial data on its cancer drug Keytruda. J.B. Hunt Transport shares jumped 6.2% on strong intermodal sales, boosting its quarterly revenue. The Dow Jones index rose by almost 213 points or 0.9%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.8%, while the Nasdaq rose by 49 points or 0.7%
