AM Report 5 Apr 18: Big comeback for US shares

US sharemarkets rebounded from lows on Wednesday. At the start of trade the Dow Jones index slumped by 510 points on fears of a widening of the trade dispute between the US and China. But shares rebounded after comforting words from President Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow. Technology shares out-performed with shares in Apple up by 1.9%, Microsoft rose 2.9% and Tesla rose by 7.3%. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was higher by 231 points or 1.0%. The S&P 500 index was up by 1.2% while the Nasdaq lifted by almost 101 points or 1.5%
