Market Close 29 Jan 19: Miners & telcos restrict further losses for local market

The Aussie market has started the holiday shortened week on a softer note with the ASX 200 falling 31 points or 0.5% to 5874. Banks and healthcare stocks were the main weight while strong gains for miners and telcos helped restrict further losses.
