Brooklyn 99 is in its final season and at a crossroads regarding its premise about a funny police precinct. Over the last year and a half the notion of making cops funny has become more than a little challenging. Brooklyn 99 has tried to thread a difficult needle between being critical of police brutality while staying true to the lovable characters the show created among a group of cops. John C McGinley, a brilliant comic supporting player joined the cast this season and provides a character who offers the chance to critique the negative aspects of Police while also being wildly funny. I was over the moon to have the chance to talk to one of my favorite actors about the incredible role he's playing in the final year of Brooklyn 99.
