Talk by Rosemary Power Recorded live at the Lakeside Hotel, Ballina on Wednesday 26th February 2020 by Scariff Bay Community Radio.
In the Winter of 1102, Ireland's dominant King, Muirchertach Ua Briain, hosted both the King of Norway and leading Anglo-Norman Lords, had two of his daughters married, engaged in political intrigue, and probably commissioned a literary account of the Battle of Clontarf.
This talk gives some of the background, and the consequences. Rosemary is a Medieval Historian and Folklorist, specialising in Norse-Gaelic Relations.
