Deuteronomy 10:12-22 In his farewell address to the Israelites, Moses' words are clear: Have a change of heart! Hold fast to God's commands! Let go of love of self.

1 John 2:15-17 You can't attach your heart to both God's will and worldly desires. Worldly desires pass away, but the one doing God's will lives forever.

Luke 18:18-30 (sermon verses)  The rich young ruler approached Jesus totally dependent on himself. Jesus' loved him, so that he would realize the truth: man is totally dependent upon God.
