Fleeing refugees who are drowning in the Mediterranean can’t wait for the European Parliament to come up with a better script to save their lives.
That’s the damning verdict of the Green Party MEP Grace O’Sullivan.
She has slammed the four Fine Gael MEPs who yesterday voted against a resolution to step up search and rescue operations for refugees in the Mediterranean.
The EPP Group which Fine Gael is a member of says its MEPs voted against the resolution because it was an insubstantial text that plays into the hands of traffickers.
But Grace O’Sullivan says that’s not good enough.
