When your physical space is cluttered, your well-being suffers.

Welcome to Everyday Happiness where we create lasting happiness, in 2-ish minutes a day, through my signature method of Intentional Margins® (creating harmony between your to-dos and your priorities), happiness science, and musings about life.
I'm your host Katie Jefcoat and if you are anything like me, the past two years of more time at home that before has really opened my eyes to reflect on my personal space.
The science indicates that your physical space contributes to your emotional well-being. Today, I wanted to talk about our office space as so many of us are working from home. Even if it is not a physical office, there are spaces in our homes where we do some sort of work. And, if we’re getting granular, everyone has some place that they do the work of running the household.
My friend C Lee has a great program and she’s come up with a brilliant system - called KARMA - to tackle the paper. So much paper. And what I love about this system, is that it’s for digital dinosaurs. It’s for those of us that still like paper and have no intention of scanning everything and putting it on a harddrive.
The research says that clutter “makes it difficult to think efficiently because when you’re processing so much external stimuli, it’s hard to solve problems and make good decisions.” Let’s be real, we didn’t need science to tell us that. We feel it. Am I right or am I right?
I am always more relaxed and more creative when I have a tidy space to work. The piles that stack up in the to-do pile get bigger and bigger and seem like a mountain of overwhelm that I push to the side. Well, that isn’t helping me emotionally. So this paper system was perfect for me. I invite you to check it out for yourself, C Lee does a class a couple times a year to help you sort those piles and banish the mountains of paper for good. The course is open right now, but only for a few days, so if you are curious, check it out. You can click the show notes for a direct link, through Everyday Happiness. Until next time, let’s toss 10 pieces of paper today and see how that feels.

In the spirit of full disclosure, if you enroll in the Paper Cleanse via my link, I'll receive a small commission. Because your success is important to me, I only recommend systems that I've personally used to create real results in my own life. The KARMA system works and C Lee is a great teacher.
