The Elephant in the Room - do we need to address it?

 

When I put out a post last night, I had no idea it would spark an absolutely brilliant conversation between John Barrett and myself as well as a few other great minds that decided to tag in.

 

So my post was based on addressing the elephant in my room which is my size compared to other's in my underground hand to hand combat training group. When I step into train I almost always pause and have to breath deep, focus and take a mental energy and strength to move forward. Meaning; I know that the fact that I am smaller then all that the other's in the group...the hit's and shot's I take to the head and body hurt and hurt a lot.

 

So I have had to address this fact and the fear that comes with it and the knowledge and empowerment I am getting each time I move forward on this path to progress. It started though by addressing the fear which has been there since such an early age when those older than me and in authoritative positions would always re enforce this fact by saying things like : your smaller be careful, or he is small so go gentle on him...

 

John had a very valid point which is this; at some point we need to drop and not pay attention to those little voice's in our head that trigger those old neurones', behaviour's and belief system's. It is also a fact that the more you think it, speak it, and believe it the more you strength those hard wires in our brain.
