The European Parliament has voted today for proposals to overhaul the EU’s corporate tax system. The majority of MEPs supported two reports that aim to stop corporations from using loopholes to avoid paying taxes by shifting profits to EU countries with lower taxes. The Dutch MEP Paul Tang, who was the author of one of today’s reports, says tech giants like Google, Apple and Facebook need to start paying their fair share of taxes in the countries where they do business.
