It usually takes a disaster to change regulations... case in point British Airtours Flight 28M and the Boeing 737.  Ultra-narrow aisles?  Armrests that don't raise up?  Seats in front of the emergency exits?  Yup, this all seems fine.  An inferno, design flaws, and Terminator is better than Robocop.
