Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko Book Discussion

Joe has picked another book called Night Watch. This time, instead of time travel and revolution, we are discussing Russian philosophy and bad writing. That's right, as the title of the episode says, we read Sergei Lukyanenko's Night Watch. A novel that takes place in post-Soviet Moscow, where the wizards of the Light and the Dark are battling it out on the streets. 

 

In this episode, the brothers will talk about what was good about the novel and where the author went so wrong in the second half. This is another book that Joe read in his college days, and his opinion has markedly changed since that first reading. Alex... Well, he had some changing opinions on the book too. 

 

Next month (March) is an Alex pick. He is asking all of us to read the classic book, Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Another fantasy book, this time geared more for a younger audience. So make sure you pick it up and have it read by the 5th of next month.
