Stardust families take case to Strasbourg – Lawyer Darragh Mackin

Relatives of those who died in the Stardust nightclub fire of 1981 are today taking their case to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. They’ve also been meeting MEPs in the European Parliament which is holding its plenary session there this week.  

The “Justice for the 48” Group say they want to reopen the inquiry into the circumstances of the fire and why forty eight people lost their lives in it. They say nobody has ever been held to account for their deaths and they’re demanding a fresh inquest.

Darragh Mackin who’s a solicitor acting on their behalf, explained what they’re hoping to achieve by coming to Strasbourg.
