I didn’t become a doctor for the prestige or the paycheck. I became a doctor because I wanted to make a real impact. To meet people at their most vulnerable moment and help them feel safe, seen, and cared for. The first time I shadowed an anesthesiologist in high school, I watched him work like a wizard.. calm, focused, in complete control and I knew that was the kind of physician I wanted to be. Every day in anesthesia, I get to protect people through the most dangerous moments of their lives. That’s not just a job. That’s purpose.
