The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was treated to dinner in Dublin Castle last night. The dinner followed a day of events yesterday when Prime Minister Trudeau met the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. Both leaders praised the EU-Canada trade deal known as CETA. Mr Trudeau said it would give Canadian and Irish businesses greater access to each other’s markets. However, critics of the deal say it’s being pushed through without proper discussion in national parliaments. The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy is demanding the CETA deal get a proper airing in the Dail.
