The Baptism of Our Lord | Luke 3:15–22 Why was Jesus baptized? He had no sins to repent of or to be forgiven for—yet He stepped into the Jordan River to be baptized by John. Today’s Gospel reading shows us the Word made flesh entering the water, not for His sake, but for ours. In His baptism, Jesus began His journey to the cross, taking our sins upon Himself. The Baptism of Our Lord | Luke 3:15–22
