Fr. Bill O'Shaughnessy explains that we need a firm foundation in our lives. For some people it may be a husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, friend etc. This is wonderful if so, but we must all have Jesus Christ as our main foundation. Suffering is guaranteed in our lives in some shape or form. However, the Crucifixion always leads to the Resurrection. And that involves building our foundations on the rock that is Jesus Christ.
