“Varroa sensitive hygiene” (VSH) is a behavioural trait of honey bees which gives them some degree of varroa tolerance. Rae Butler, queen breeder at Bee Smart Breeding in Ashburton, New Zealand, selects for VSH along with production traits in her breeding program.
