US Close 19 Jul 16: Another strong night for the US while Turkish shares fell 7%

 US sharemarkets closed higher on Monday with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 closing at fresh record highs. Upbeat second quarter earnings by Bank of America (up 3.3%) supported gains across  financial stocks. The S&P financial sector rose 0.4%. The semiconductor index rose 1.6% and is holding near 13-month highs following the M&A deal by Japan's SoftBank to buy British chip designer ARM . The Dow Jones index rose to fresh record highs up by almost 17 points or 0.1%. The S&P 500 index rose 0.2%, while the Nasdaq gained 26 points or 0.5%.
