“Submit yourselves, then, to God... Come near to God and he will come near to you... Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (James 4:7, 8, 10)

- Wisdom to understand the nature of our problem (vv.1-4)-
- Vivid depiction: we want our way, and do whatever we can to get it!
- Friendship with the world breaks relationship with God.
- Declarative choice: one way or the other: your way or God’s Way?!
- Wisdom to see God’s approach (vv.5-6; Prov. 3:34)-
- God opposes the proud-
- God gives grace to the humble-
- Wisdom to submit to God for help (vv.7-10)- accept the invitation! A series of command/promises to embrace...:
