Public acceptance has been a key element of an international electricity interconnector that’s being built between Belgium and Germany. So says the Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy. He recently hosted in Brussels a delegation from Ireland who visited the Belgian electricity operator Elia which is developing the Belgian-German interconnector. Mr Carthy says it’s going to be entirely underground and it’s similar to the one being planned by Eirgrid for Ireland.
