Südafrika fordert den IGH in Den Haag auf, Israels Angriffe auf den Gazastreifen nach der UN-Konvention von 1948 als Völkermord einzustufen. Viele Staaten und rund 900 zivile Organisationen unterstützen die Klage. Die USA stellen sich vor Prozessbeginn explizit auf die Seite Israels.
