- Salt Lake County District Attorney [[Sim Gill]] has ruled that a West Valley City sergeant was legally justified when he shot and killed a handcuffed man inside the police station nearly two years ago.
- Sgt. Tyler Longman [killed 31-year-old [[Michael Chad Breinholt]]](https://www.sltrib.com/news/2021/07/12/video-west-valley-city/) on Aug. 23, 2019 inside the West Valley City police station during a DUI investigation.
- Body camera footage shows Breinholt with his hands cuffed behind his back. At one point, he wrestled with two officers. Officer Taylor Atkin screamed that Breinholt was grabbing his gun. The footage shows that the gun remained in the holster during the brief struggle.
