US Close 10 Oct 16: Markets awaiting reaction to Hurricane Matthew and election debate

* US sharemarkets eased modestly on Friday. Investor confidence was affected by news of a "flash crash" of the British pound that saw it fall by 10% in Asian trade before recovering most of the loss. US jobs data was softer than expected but investors still believe the Federal Reserve will be lifting rates before end year. The Dow Jones index fell by 28 points or 0.2% with the S&P 500 index lower by 0.3% while the Nasdaq lost 14 points or 0.3%. Over the week the Dow lost 0.4%, the S&P 500 lost 0.7% and the Nasdaq fell by 0.4%.
