Timmermans promises help for “peat harvesters” in Midlands

One of the EU’s top officials has promised to help peat workers in the Midlands whose jobs are in jeopardy because of the EU’s new Green Deal and its promised ambition to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

Frans Timmermans who is a vice president of the European Commission, today outlined details of the EU’s one hundred billion euro Just Transition Mechanism and Fund.

It’s supposed to help EU regions that will be heavily affected by the EU’s transition to a greener economy.
