  The nation of Israel was given the promises. They were the root and the church is the flower. Christianity is not a new religion that started after Judaism. Israel was the underground and the church is the above ground in the Holy Spirit. Everything we know of covenant, God gave it to Israel to hold for us until we grew up and learned about it. Everything we know, the temple, the tabernacle, the offerings, the feasts, the priesthood, the covenant, the promises, God gave to Israel to look after until Jesus came.
