US Close 24 Nov 16: The Dow Jones hit fresh record highs, gold off over US$20/oz

US sharemarkets were mixed on Wednesday. The Dow Jones hit fresh record highs but technology and pharmaceuticals lagged. Shares in Eli Lilly fell by 10.5% after it said it would stop developing its Alzheimer's drug following trial failures. At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was up by 59 points or 0.3%. However the S&P 500 index was up by 0.1% while the Nasdaq lost almost 6 points or 0.1%.
