Mid-Session 4 Oct 18: Banks & miners lift local shares higher

The Australian share market is continuing to lift on the back of strength in heavyweight sectors, financials and materials. The ASX 200 is improving by 39 points or 0.3% towards lunch. An increasing trade surplus has been unable to lift the Aussie dollar high buys under US71 cents.
