The real EP 37 of Comic Book Showdown of Destiny

Is crowdfunding the hero the comic scene needs? In Dec 2024 Diamond, the sole distributor of comics to most comic shops around the country, closed a distribution center leading to delays, damaged books, and retailer struggles. In mid Jan 2025, Diamond filed for bankruptcy. The industry as a whole is about to change.

One place that is expected to see a huge growth is crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter. Already we have seen mid-level publishers like Antarctic Press and Dynamite launching campaigns to get their books directly to consumers.

In this show we will discuss how indie creators are going to need to adapt to having higher level competition in the crowdfunding market.
