US Close 9 May 16: Weak Chinese April trade data expected to take shine off markets

US sharemarkets rose on Friday. Investors perceive that the next rate hike may be delayed until September. The materials, industrials and consumer discretionary sectors rose while healthcare fell. The Dow Jones ended higher by 80 points or 0.5%. The S&P 500 index edged up by 0.3% and the Nasdaq gained 0.4%. Over the week the Dow Jones fell by 0.2%, the S&P 500 index lost 0.4% while the Nasdaq fell by 0.8%.
